Research Interests: Extreme mechanical behaviors of carbon nanotubes.
Achievements: Bai Yunxiang developed an acoustic resonance testing system to assess the fatigue resistance test of ultralong carbon nanotubes, revealing their high fatigue durability and unique failure mechanisms (Science 2020, 369, 1104-1106; highlighted as Research Opener Article / one of the top four achievements recommended on the website of Science). Furthermore, employing a gas flow focusing method and synchronous stretching and relaxing technique, he fabricated carbon nanotube bundles with a tensile strength exceeding 80 GPa, approaching that of individual carbon nanotubes.
