High-performance para-aramid paper is a high-performance material prepared from para-aramid nanofibers as the matrix and short-cut fibers as the reinforcement through modern papermaking wet copying and hot press molding process.

Para-aramid, known as poly-terephthaloyl-p-phenylenediamine, or PPTA, is a kind of aromatic polyamide fiber. Also known as Aramid-II or Aramid 1414 in China, it is a linear macromolecule composed of amide groups connected to each other and to the para-phenyl ring, where at least 85% of the amide bond is directly connected between the two para-phenyl rings.
