Zhang Yunmao, Ph.D. from Xiamen University, supervised by Professor Hou Xu.
Research Interests: Zhang Yunmao integrates liquids as structural and functional materials into the design and development of composites, and conducts research on liquid-based materials, liquid gating technology, interface physicochemicals, etc.
Achievements: Zhang Yunmao employed responsive liquid gating technology to control interactions at the solid-liquid interface, achieving novel gating properties. He pioneered a mechanism for efficient filtration and absorption of various microscale substances at aqueous interfaces, overcoming challenges in air purification such as filtration, anti-fouling, anti-bacterial, and deodorization for long-term operation. His work resolved how liquids, as structural and functional materials, can realize electrochemically controllable microbubbles and efficient mass transfer at the three-phase interface. This offers new theoretical and technological strategies to tackle complex and varying air pollution challenges, paving the way for innovative air purification technologies.
